Inspiration: "Square from Nine Rectangles", by Max Bill
The original design was attractive and caught my attention, however I found it too dark. I wanted to explore a lighter color pallete and found myself seeking a gradient solution. The gradient programming was both difficult at first and really did not meet my needs. I chose a lighter color pallete and was pleased with the results.
Max Bill had several square designs, and while I used this for inspiration, I chose to alter the designs as seen in the for loop resulting in four lines from the primary rectangle. In the end, this was really about a design that I thought was appealing in both color and symmetry. Max Bill is considered the most fruitful stimulator and progressive innovator of the Bauhaus student generation. I wanted to stay honest to the geometric abstraction of his work while placing an individual element to the design.
