Creative exploration on the web.

DGMD E12 is an introductory programming class offered through the Digital Media program at Harvard Extension School. The course presents a highly interactive, audiovisual approach to programming. Lessons are geared to those with no prior coding knowledge, and coursework is particularly appealing to those interested in coding for the visual arts, digital media, or data visualization.

Using the easy-to-understand language syntax of the P5.JS JavaScript library, students create code "sketches" on a digital canvas. These sketches provide immediate visual feedback to the web page. Each week, students tackle increasingly complex creative and programmatic challenges. By semester's end, students leave empowered to pursue their own data visualizations, natural systems, games, media mashups, or artistic expressions on the web.

This site represents a portfolio of students' project work during the Spring 2017 semester. If you'd like more information about the course logistics and registration information, please visit the course description on the Harvard Extension School site.
